If you have an iPhone 7, CHECK YOUR MODEL. Because yours might be one that is subject to a recall! A cellular update failure could ruin your life. Don't let the same thing happen to you. SAVE YOURSELVES.
It all began one fateful day, when I was double-booked, as usual. I was running around trying to call Audrey so I could pick up the business casual clothes I forgot to pack with me so I could go volunteer for a career fair. Everyone has days like those right? When I didn't have wifi as I was running in between buildings, my phone STOPPED WORKING. It was so maddening!
I got the clothes and everything worked out, and this problem continued for a couple months. I found out that it was a cellular update failure, and that it was a very common problem among iPhone 7's. There was a recall so Apple would fix them for free, but it took 14 business days...which is hard to do with school and everything. So, I took a proactive choice and ignored it until I literally could not anymore. By the time I decided to send it in a couple months later, I could not text, facetime, facetime audio, call, or record any videos with sound.
I took it in to an Apple outlet and sent it off. The next day, my dad sent his ancient iPhone 5 to use temporarily. It was slow, but it worked! And that was all I needed. About a month later, I still hadn't received any updates about my phone so I went into the store. Turns out, they had a completely wrong phone number for me this whole time! Not sure how that happened.
I got my phone (!!) and went to Starbucks to celebrate (!!!!!!) and turned it on (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).... only to find that the problem STILL EXISTED. So I hopped on back to the Apple store and asked them what was wrong. They went into the files and found out that Apple didn't fix it because it had third-party tampering. I could not remember for the life of me if I had gone through any third party.
Then, my dad found the solution. Last July, I had dropped my phone and shattered the screen, so I got a new iPhone 7 through my insurance company - since it was refurbished by them, Apple wouldn't fix it. So THEN we called the insurance company and they said they would give me a new phone for free because it was shattered less than a year ago.
The new one came in the mail the two days later because I had to wait for my dad (the account holder) to get off a plane from NYC. THEN it came and I still couldn't call anyone. So I called apple, thinking it was an Apple ID problem. They said it wasn't. So I called Verizon and the lady said "Just a second." Then it was silent for about 8 minutes, and then, finally, magically, hundreds of messages that I had been missing for the last four months came streaming in.
IT TOOK FOUR MONTHS BUT I FINALLY HAVE A WORKING PHONE!
